Obituary of Ida Irene Gladle

GOUVERNEUR - Ida Irene Gladle, age 84, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Maplewood Nursing Home in Canton. There will be a graveside service on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the East Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur with Rev. Michael Tomford and Rev. David Sheppherd officiating. Ida was born on April 19, 1930 in Pierce's Corners, Macomb to the late William Frank and Mary Lucinda (Bogart) Gladle. Ida also had her foster parents, Frank and Ora Finley. Ms. Gladle was a domestic worker in private homes for over 40 years. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and listening to old country music. She was a member of the Gouverneur and Dekalb Senior Citizens groups, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #6338, and attended the Richville Community Church. She is survived by five children, Brenda I. and Terry Catlett, Gary W. Laidlaw, Wayne E. Laidlaw, Brian J. Laidlaw, and Mona C. DeLaney; her sister, Mildred V. Hamilton; her brothers, David E. Gladle, Harry L. and Janet Gladle, Robert L. and Renee Gladle; and foster brothers, Roger D. Finley and Kevin C. Finley. Ida is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, her foster parents, her best friend, Rosie McEathron, a brother, Horace W. Gladle, and her foster sister, Lyndra L. Edgar.
