Obituary of Arlene B. O'Riley

GOUVERNEUR - Arlene B. O'Riley, age 78, of Gouverneur, passed away on May 24, 2014 at the Claxton - Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg. Calling hours will be at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur on Tuesday, May 27th from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Her funeral mass will be held at the St. James Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 28th at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial in the Old St. James Cemetery. Arlene was born in Antwerp on April 23, 1936 to the late Arnold W. and Pearl A. (Bercume) Buker. She graduated from the Philadelphia High School in 1954 and from the Watertown School of Commerce and the Evening Division of the Jefferson Community College. She married Donald F. O'Riley on June 11, 1966 at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Philadelphia with Father James Meehan officiating. The couple has lived in Gouverneur since 1966. Arlene had worked for the North Counties Supply Company in Philadelphia, the Watertown National Bank, Gouverneur National Bank, Peck's Auction Barn in Gouverneur, was a bookkeeper for Empire Livestock in Gouverneur, Household Merritt, Byrns Realty and Auction Plus, all in Gouverneur. Mrs. O'Riley was a member of the St. James Catholic Church, and enjoyed singing in the Little Theater of Watertown and Wadhams Hall Seminary Chorus in Ogdensburg. Her survivors include her husband, Donald of Gouverneur; her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Brian Stamper of Gouverneur; her son, Dr. Michael O'Riley and his wife, Deana of Colorado Springs, CO; and a brother, Robert Buker of Carthage. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Kylynne, Kestin, and Kiraghan Stamper; and her nieces and nephews. Arlene is predeceased by her parents and a brother, Gregory Buker.
