Obituary of Leta F. Bush

STAR LAKE - Leta F. Bush, age 79, of Star Lake, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the Clifton-Fine Hospital. Calling hours will be at French Family Funeral Home in Star Lake on Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. There will be a graveside service in the Oswegatchie Cemetery in the spring. Leta was born on September 13, 1934 in Wanakena, NY, the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine (Akins) Durham. She attended the Clifton-Fine Central School and married Clifford C. Bush on September 4, 1950 at the Oswegatchie Baptist Parsonage. The couple lived in Oswegatchie until moving to Star Lake. Mr. Bush passed away on April 12, 2009. Leta worked for the Padgett's IGA in Star Lake, was a cook for Dairy Treat and also worked as a waitress for many years. She enjoyed reading and raising and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Judy and Douglas Alheit of Dunn, NC, Sharon and Sonny Laybolt of Billings, MT; a half brother and his wife, Charles and Colleen Durham of Norwood; and a half sister, Linda Hennesy of Cleveland, OH. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Clifford; her son, Clifford G. Bush; a daughter, Bonnie Irwin; and a half sister, Effie Durham. Condolences may be made online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
