Obituary of Beatrice Mae Filiatrault

GOUVERNEUR - Beatrice Mae Filiatrault, age 85, of Gouverneur, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the Gouverneur Hospital. Beatrice was born on November 11, 1928 in Gouverneur to the late Percy and Mary (Hauseau) Jefferson. She went to the North Country School and graduated from the Gouverneur High School. Beatrice married Kenneth C. Filiatrault on June 28, 1947 at her parents' home in North Gouverneur. Mrs. Filiatrault was a homemaker who also watched area children. She loved children and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Her survivors include her husband of over 66 years, Kenneth; two sons and their wives, Percy and Karen Filiatrault of Gouverneur, Jeffrey and Deborah of Morrisonville; two daughters and their husbands, Jessie and Steven Alguire of Mexico, NY, Linda and Ronald Sherman of Gouverneur. Beatrice is also survived by 16 grandchildren and their spouses, 31 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Beatrice is predeceased by her two brothers, Frank and Donald Jefferson and two sisters, Mary Adele Thompson and Jessie Sprague. In keeping with her wishes, there will be an open house for a celebration of Bea's life at Bea and Ken's home at 2B Scotchsettlement Rd. in Gouverneur.
