Obituary of Jennie B. Rose

HALFMOON- Jennie Becker Scott Rose, age 90, of Halfmoon, NY, but formerly of Pitcairn, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2012 in the St. Peter's Hospice Inn in Albany.
Calling hours will be on Monday, October 8, 2012 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the Oswegatchie Baptist Church with the funeral service immediately following at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at the Oswegatchie Cemetery. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home. Condolences may be made at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
Born in the Town of Fine, St. Lawrence County, NY, on September 20, 1922, Jennie was the oldest of three daughters by her parents, the late Frank and Mary Leta (Phillips) Scott. She married Stanly G. Rose on October 23, 1940. Stanley passed away on September 6, 1999 in Pitcairn, St. Lawrence County where they raised their family.
Jennie graduated from the Oswegatchie High School in 1937 at the age of 14. She worked as a part time store clerk for the A&P in Harrisville, NY for several years before beginning her full time employment as an accounting clerk for the US Army Corps of Engineers in Fort Drum, Watertown, NY and Winchester, VA where she retired in 1985. Jennie returned to NY in 1991 to reside in Saratoga County. She volunteered for several years at the Brookside Museum in Ballston Spa, NY. For most of her life, Jennie pursued historical and genealogical research and wrote a collection of memoirs about her ancestors and childhood. Her family recently published her memoirs in a hardbound compilation entitled, "I Am Jennie".
Jennie was the mother of four sons and one daughter, Donald K. (Susan) Rose of Los Altos, CA, Richard W. (Jean) Rose of Waynesboro, PA, twins, David G. (Kay) Rose of Lubbock, TX and Susan C. Rose (John) Penney of Halfmoon, NY and Dennis M. Rose of Buffalo, TX. She also has six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a sister, Jane Scott Aldous of Hermon, NY and is predeceased by a younger sister, Janet Scott Hamilton, who passed away in 2006.
The family expresses its appreciation to the St. Peter's Hospital in Albany and the Hospice services of Saratoga and St. Peter's Hospice Inn for the caring medical attention Jennie received.
