STAR LAKE- Clark W. Smith, age 61, of Star Lake, NY, passed away on Thursday, January 09, 2014 at his home under the care of St. Lawrence Valley Hospice. Calling hours for Clark will be on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at French Family Funeral Home in Star Lake. His funeral service will be on Thursday, January 16th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Hubert's Catholic Church in Star Lake. Burial will be at Cranberry Lake Cemetery in the spring. Condolences may be made online to www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Clark was born on March 12, 1952 in Star Lake, NY to the late Calvin C. and Matilda T. (Janack) Smith. He attended Clifton-Fine Central School. Clark Married Margaret "Peg" Shene on June 17, 1972 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Newton Falls. He had worked as a laborer at J&L Steel and then was the transportation supervisor at Clifton-Fine Central School. Clark and his wife, Peg were the owners and operators of the Blue Spruce Bar and Restaurant in Star Lake from 1997 until 2005. Clark was a former member of the Star Lake Fire Department; a former member of the Little River Fish and Game Club; past vice president of the Big Creek Rod and Gun Club and was a member of the Men's League at the Clifton-Fine Golf Course. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and playing Golf. He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peg" of Star Lake; a brother, Brian D. Smith of Cary, NC; two sisters, Bonnie L. Hodge of Lake Wales, FL and Nancy M. and John Russell of Wind Fall, NY; and several nieces and nephews. Clark is predeceased by his parents; a brother, Paul Smith and his step father, Charles B.
