RUSSELL - Leonard T. Allen, age 78, of Russell, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at his home. Calling hours will be at French Funeral Home, Edwards on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. His funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery, Fine. There will be a gathering at the Russell Town Hall after the burial service. Leonard was born on October 6, 1935 in Oswegatchie (town of Fine) to the late Frank C. and Elizabeth B. (Farmer) Allen. He attended the Clifton-Fine Central School. Leonard married Rosemary A. O'Shea on November 16, 1963 in the Edwards United Methodist Church with Rev. Cameron officiating. Mr. Allen worked as a mechanic for Vincent Buick in Rochester before his retirement in 1973. He had previously worked for the railroad and for the Clifton-Fine Hospital working in the maintenance department. He and Rosemary moved to their Russell home after his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rosemary; his daughter, Tonya and Terry Clary of Russell; two sons, Wayne Allen of South Edwards, Dell and Mary Allen of Utica; and a brother, William Allen of Rochester. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Shawn, Tony, Jessica, Traci and Tiara, 6 great-grandchildren, Randy "Bubba", Jace, Geneva, Elise, IslaRose, and Lukas; and his nieces and nephews. Leonard is predeceased by his sisters, Barbara Allen and Betty Paro; his half-sister, Dorothy Lewis; and his half-brother, Frank "Hank" Allen.
