Obituary of Calvin O. Walrath Sr.

GOUVERNEUR – Calvin O. Walrath, Sr., age 83, of Gouverneur, passed away on December 7, 2024 at home under the care of his family and hospice. At his request, there will be no services. Calvin was born on February 2, 1941 in Morristown to the late Roy and Mildred (Kio) Walrath. He graduated from the Hermon School and served in the United States Marine Corp from August 24, 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1967. Calvin married Patricia A. Crawn on December 20, 1969. He worked for J&L Steel as a miner, farmed it for his father-in-law, worked treating utility poles in NJ and VT, and worked janitorial for the Plattsburgh Mall and St. James School in Gouverneur. In his free time, he enjoyed reading and watching movies and sports. He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Walrath, his daughter, Ellen Walrath and her companion Randy Willmert, his son, Calvin "Otis" Walrath, Jr. and his wife, Tammy, and brothers Keith Walrath and Alton Walrath. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Calvin is predeceased by his parents and brothers, Ernie, Ceylon, Bernard, Lloyd, Raymond, and Junior Walrath.
