OGDENSBURG- Jody L. Matthews, age 53, of Ogdensburg, NY, but formerly of Edwards, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Upstate Medical Hospital in Syracuse.

There will be calling hours for Jody on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at French Funeral Home in Edwards. His funeral service will be on Wednesday, December 11th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Edwards. Jody was born on November 20, 1971 in Gouverneur, NY to Ralph W. "Peanut" and Sally J. (Allen) Matthews. He graduated from Edwards Knox Central School in 1991 and then went on to attend North Country Community College. He married Kim Woods on September 21, 2019 in Virginia Beach. Jody worked for various construction companies over the years and then became a peer advocate at the Step By Step program in Ogdensburg. He was a true outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He loved animals, playing cards, going on vacations, going to concerts and was the life of the parties. He was also a Kansas City Chief fan.

Surviving is his wife, Kim; his mother, Sally Matthews; a brother, Doug Matthews; a sister, Buffy Matthews and her companion Robert Wilson; a niece, Brittany Daniels; a nephew, Matthew Hall; great niece and nephews, Isaac, Nolan, Kinsley and Owen; a step son, Hunter Sharlow; mother and father-in-law, Nelson and Cathy Woods; Sister-in-law, April and Jake Randall; a brother-in-law, Kevin and Nikki Woods and Willow Reynolds, who he treated like a granddaughter. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Jody is predeceased by his father, Ralph "Peanut" Matthews.
