GOUVERNEUR- John P. Smith, age 60, of Gouverneur, NY passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at his home.

John was born on June 18, 1964 in Gouverneur, NY to Phillip and Rita (Peck) Smith. He graduated from Gouverneur Central School in 1983. John had worked for Jones Farm Supply, Richie Brothers and Heuvelton Central School until he became disabled. John was an avid collector of antiques. He enjoyed participating in gas engine show and he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving is his mother, Rita Smith; his longtime companion, Evelyn Holmes; a daughter and son-in-law, Shayla and Jorden Whitton; a half-brother, Robert Smith; a niece, Kiesha Smith and his good friends, Jay Bigarel, Carl Fleming, Carl Forsythe and Alex Adlam. John is predeceased by his father Phillip Smith.
