Obituary of Ronald Wood
Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ronald L. Wood, born on May 20, 1950, passed away on November 20, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family.
Ronnie was the beloved husband of Paula M. (Nicholas) Wood, with whom he shared many wonderful years. They were married on Christmas Eve, 1999, and together, they created a beautiful blended family, including Darren Wood, Carrie (Ricky) Skeldon, Eric (Julie) Wood, Liza (Michael) Littere, Lisa (Scott) Hays, and Christina (James) Maher. Known affectionately as "Papa," he was adored by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy. Ronnie is also survived by his sister, Beverly Towne; two brothers, Gary (Anna May) Wood and his twin Roland (Rita) Wood. He is predeceased by his parents, John E. and Ethel I. (Whitford) Wood; a sister, Janice Brown and three brothers, James "Jim" Wood, Donald Wood Sr. and John Wood.
A proud Marine, Ronnie served his country with honor during the Vietnam War. His bravery in combat was extraordinary. Wounded in action, he continued to fight and protect his fellow soldiers, an act of heroism that earned him both the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. His dedication and courage were a testament to his character.
He had a passion for classic cars and found joy in admiring, restoring, and sharing his love of old automobiles. He was happiest outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, and, after moving to Florida, his newfound love of golf. More recently, he discovered pickle ball, where he not only honed his skills but also formed cherished, lifelong friendships. His neighbors held a special place in his heart, as he deeply valued the wonderful friendships he built with them.
Ronnie was accompanied by his beloved dog, Elsa, affectionately known as "Baby Girl." Elsa never left his side, embodying the unwavering love and loyalty they shared.
He will be remembered for his sharp wit and dry, sarcastic sense of humor, which left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Ronnie's legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Semper Fi, Ronnie. In keeping with Ronnie's wishes, there will be no services. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
