HERMON/OSWEGO – Terry L. Butler, age 69, of Hermon and formerly of Oswego, passed away at home on November 8, 2024.
Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home, 16 Barnes Street, Gouverneur NY on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. There will be no formal service. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
Terry was born on July 14, 1955 in Oswego to the late Charles and Bernice (Buttimer) Butler. He graduated from Oswego High School where he played football and wrestled, served in the United States Navy for four years, and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Oswego College.
Terry began working for his father's business, Butler's Disposal, in Oswego, drove tractor trailer for Long Shore Transportation, and then worked for Waste Stream in Potsdam after relocating to Hermon.
Terry was a man who loved his family, friends and sports. He would do anything for anybody or get someone else to do it. He liked helping people, being there and listening to them, and loved talking on the phone.
He is survived by his wife, Donna M. Butler, three children, James (Tracy) Canevari, Terry Lee Butler, Jr. and Angela (Bryan) Stone, nine grandchildren, Cassidy, Ava, Corissa, Sebastien, Fiona, Owen, Tara, Asher, and June, four siblings, Charles (Missy) Butler, Todd (Chrissy) Butler, Bonnie (Joseph) Purdy, and Becky (Paul) Engle, and a sister-in-law, Georgianna.
He is predeceased by his parents and brothers, Thomas, Alan, and Dale Butler.
