DE KALB JCT- Garland M. McKinstry, age 78, of DeKalb Jct. passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at his home.

Garland was born on July 16, 1946 to the late Floyd and Dorothy (Salisbury) McKinstry. He attended school in Fort Plain, NY. On November 9, 1965 he entered into the United States Navy and served until his honorable discharge on October 1, 1969.
Garland was the editor of several newspapers in Fort Plains, NY. He also raised and showed Papillon Dogs and Appaloosa and Quarter Horses. He had a love for animals. Garland was also a lifetime member of the Fort Plain VFW.
Surviving is his sister, Srenda Scott and his lifelong friend, Ronaldo Lorensen. He is predeceased by his parents and a brother, Kevin McKinstry.
