MACOMB – Sam D. Parker, Sr., age 66, of Macomb, passed away at home on October 12, 2024.
There will be no public services. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home in Gouverneur. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
Sam was born on March 26, 1958 in Orlando, FL to the late Phillip D. Parker and Sarah Jane Queen. He attended the Morristown Central School where he played baseball and basketball.
Sam married Sherry Lynn Petrie on November 8, 1976. Sherry passed away on November 27, 2015. Sam started his working career at the age of 14 when he joined the carnival. He travelled all over and worked with them for quite a few years. He later worked for Wolf Woods Kennell in Depeyster.
Sam was an avid fisherman and hunter who enjoyed making Native crafts taught to him by his mother. He was very mechanically inclined, working on cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Sam loved his many dogs and enjoyed caring for them. He was one hell of a Jack Daniels drinker, but his life changed once his grandkids came to live with him. His grandkids and great-grandkids kept him going.
He is survived by his sons, Sam and Michelle Parker, James Parker, and Scott Parker, and siblings, Charlie, Mark, Naomi "Aunt Ruth", and Phillip. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Brandon, Dylan, Draven, Nichole, Paige, and Harley, 2 great-grandchildren, Colton and Chloe, and his step-mother, Sharon Parker.
Donations in memory of Sam may be made to his family's Go Fund Me to help cover his final expenses that will be set up.
