GOUVERNEUR- Ronald K. Woodard, age 68 of Gouverneur, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. Calling hours for Ronald will be on Tuesday, November 26th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur. His funeral service will be on Wednesday, November 27th at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Morehouse of the Wesleyan Holiness Church in Ohioville, PA officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Hailesboro Cemetery. Condolences may be made online to www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Ronald was born on May 11, 1945 in Gouverneur, NY. He was the son of the late Arthur and Lillian (Woodward) Woodard. He attended Gouverneur Central School. He entered into the United States Army in 1965 and served during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge in 1967. Ronald married Linda Boclair on June 29, 1968 at the Gouverneur United Methodist Church. Ronald had a part in building the Edwards Mill and then he worked his way into becoming an electrical repairman for St. Joe Mineral. After retiring from St. Joe, he worked as a heavy equipment operator, bridge builder and supervisor, working with concrete for the last 20 years. He was a member of the Gouverneur VFW, Elks Lodge and American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Ronald is survived by his wife, Linda of Gouverneur; a son and his wife, Ronnie and Dorrie-Rene Woodard of Tupper Lake; three daughters and their husbands, Amy and Allen Chester of Lisbon, Peggy and Donald Fowler Jr. of Harrisville and Emily and Richard LaPlatney of Harrisville; 14 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. He is predeceased by a brother, Arthur Woodard and a sister, Eunice Leahey.
