GOUVERNEUR- Stanley D. Besaw, age 76, of Gouverneur, NY passed away on August 5, 2024 under the care of his family and hospice.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Stanley on Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Gouverneur VFW. There will be a memorial service on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 28345 NY 342, Black River NY 13612. Stan the Man, "Beak", was born on December 10, 1947 in La Fargeville, NY to the late Clarence M. and Mary E. (Davis) Besaw. He attended a one room school house in Fowler and then graduated from Gouverneur School in 1966. After graduation, Stanley entered the Army Reserve for 6 years. A marriage to Brenda Youngs ended in divorce. He married Stephanie Weir on July 30, 1983.

Stan worked as a farmer, food and milk delivery driver, construction and drove school bus for Head Start and the Gouverneur Bus Garage. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He enjoyed softball, baseball, bowling, golf, and playing full contact basketball games with his family and friends. Above all else, he loved being with family.

Surviving is his wife, Stephanie; a daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Ron Walsh; four sons and their spouses, Anthony and Rachel Besaw, Aaron and Jennifer Fullerton, Jamie and Candy Waite and Lucas and Valerie Besaw; a brother and sister-in-law, Wesley and Donna Besaw; a sister, Joyce Besaw; 12 grandchildren, Zachary, Natasha, Ryan, Sarah, Andrew, Aaron, Elijah, Jamie, Keanna, Lindsay, Taylor and Melody; a great grandson, Quin and one more on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

Stanley is predeceased by a brother, Henry Besaw and two sisters, Shirley Hays and Betty Jane Besaw.
