GOUVERNEUR – Wava J. Stowell, age 21, passed away at home on June 4, 2024.

There will be a Celebration of Life held on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at the Gouverneur Elks Lodge. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home in Gouverneur. Condolences may be made at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.

Wava was born on July 9, 2002 in Gouverneur. She graduated from Gouverneur High School in 2023. Wava loved her stuffed animals and listening to metal music, especially Metallica, with her favorite song being "Enter Sandman". She was known to laugh at inappropriate times, sometimes at her family's expense, and when she was able, she loved when her aid would bring her chocolate frappes.

She is survived by her parents, Earl and Deborah Miller, grandmother, Deborah Nevills, step-grandfather, Darcy Jones, siblings, Dylan Miller and his significant other, Zoel Houle, Deseree Miller, Jasmine Miller and her boyfriend, Matthew Aquino, and Jenna Miller and her companion, Maitland Smith, and her niece, Novah Smith. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Wava is predeceased by her grandparents, David Nevills, Sharla and Sam Miller, Sr., great-grandmother, Alice Miller-Berry, and aunt and uncle, Sheryl and Lester Simmons.
