Obituary of Todd Chapman

OSWEGATCHIE – Todd Chapman of Oswegatchie, NY passed away on May 31, 2024 at Clifton-Fine Hospital, after a brief illness. He was sixty-one years old. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com, or on Todd's memorial Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/adirondack.todd.56 Todd was born on May 15, 1963 to Sandra (Mundt) Chapman and the late Richard Chapman of Rochester New York. He was their second child and firstborn son. Todd graduated from John Marshall High School in Rochester in 1981. Todd worked in the HVAC industry, first for his father, then for various other companies, including Tom/Vin Enterprises in Rochester. After becoming disabled, Todd was retrained by BOCES as a long-distance truck driver, and worked for several trucking companies over the years. Finally, he drove bus for the disabled through ARC in Mount Morris, NY. Todd married Katherine (Skiff) Calderwood on May 16, 1998 at the Open Door Mission in Rochester. They had been married for 26 years at the time of his death. Todd loved to hunt and fish, and he was an excellent cook. He was proficient with HVAC, and had a working knowledge of car mechanics, electrical and plumbing. Todd was caring, protective husband and father, with a tough exterior, and very loyal to his friends. He loved to joke around, and found something to laugh about every day of his life. Todd is survived by his mother, Sandra Chapman of Geneva, New York, his wife, Katherine Chapman of Oswegatchie, children - Todd Chapman, Jr. and Jason R. Chapman, his step-children - Ethan, David and Grace Calderwood, Ariel Orellana, and his grandson, Alexander Orellana. He is also survived by his siblings - Tara Chapman-Boggs, Timothy Chapman, Marie Chapman-Croll and Killeen Smith, along with his brother-in-law Todd Smith, two nieces, several nephews and many cousins and other relatives. Todd was preceded into eternity by his father Richard "Dick" Chapman and beloved nephew Jeremy Boggs. Gone too soon, he will be missed by all.
