Gary D. Clifford, 59, of Hailesboro, peacefully passed away on May 9, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and under the care of hospice at his home.

Born on September 4, 1964, in Gouverneur to Elaine Ward and Gary Clifford, Gary was raised by his devoted mother and step-father, Elaine and Rodney McCracken.

Throughout his life, Gary attended various local schools and worked diligently as a Carpenter for Contech Building Systems for the better part of 35 years.

Gary was a dedicated husband to his beloved wife, Carrie (McManus) of 40 years and a loving father to their daughters, Ashley Clifford (David Clough) and Katie Riley as well as Randy Moller whom he thought of as a son. He found joy in spending time with his family, took pride in being a great friend and loving uncle to so many nieces and nephews. Gary's siblings, Kim Clifford, Cindy Cardinell, Jody (Julie) Clifford, and Scott Clifford.

Gary was a man of many talents and passions. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, whether it was cruising on his Harley Davidson, exploring the great outdoors while hunting and fishing, or simply relaxing in the company of his loved ones. His resourcefulness and willingness to help others and the fact that he could fix anything earned him the affectionate nickname "Gary MacGyver" from his dear wife, Carrie.

Gary's greatest pride and joy was being a papa to his four "babies" grandchildren: Emma Riley, Elaina Robert, Lola Moller, and Grahm Moller. He adored them endlessly and cherished every moment spent with them.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Randy Clifford. While he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Gary will take place at the Gouverneur Community Center on Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by French Funeral Home in Gouverneur. Online condolences can be shared at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
