GOUVERNEUR – Deanna K. Hentz, age 81, passed away on April 23, 2024 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

Keeping with her wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home in Gouverneur. Condolences may be made online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.

Deanna was born on July 12, 1942 in Gouverneur to the late Ruth G. Weir. She graduated from Gouverneur Central School and had worked as a cook for Head Start and in the kitchen for Gouverneur Hospital. For many years Deanna worked as a job coach for St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES out of Norwood until her retirement in 2010. A marriage to David Hentz ended in divorce.

Deanna was an excellent farm hand who loved the livestock. She was a wonderful Nana and enjoyed playing Bingo and gambling.

She is survived by her long-time companion, Wayne Bush, her five children, Steven (Joette) Hentz, Ann (Rob) Stratton, David Michael Hentz (companion, Laurie Nowak), Tammy (Russ) Bertrand, and Tracy Wilson (companion, Clinton Goutremout), Wayne's children, Terry (Debbie) Bush, Kevin (Nancy) Bush, Brian (Emily) Bush, Shelley (Greg) Campbell, and Duffy (Amy) Bush, and 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Donna Taylor, Patricia Hewitt, Mary Lou Simmons, Sue (Michael) Perrigo, and Debra (Michael) Shattuck, and many nieces and nephews.

Deanna is predeceased by a sister, Priscilla Smith, brothers, Clifton Weir and Gary Weir and two granddaughters Mallory and Melinda Bertrand.

There will be a celebration of life at the Elks club on May 5, 2024 at 3pm in Gouverneur.
