OSWEGATCHIE – William "Red" "Willie" A. Marsh, age 90, of Oswegatchie, passed away on March 14, 2024 in Tupper Lake.
There will be a graveside service held in Woodland Cemetery in Fine on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life held at the Fine Fire Hall. Arrangements are with French Family Funeral Home in Star Lake. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
Willie was born on July 14, 1933 in Fine to the late Nelson and Zelpha (Webb) Marsh. He attended the Irish Hill and Scott's Bridge Schools. Willie married Myrtle M. Geer on April 2, 1961 in Pitcairn. Myrtle passed away on August 23, 1995.
Willie had worked in maintenance for the Wanakena Ranger School, as a roller for the Newton Falls Paper Mill, and various odd jobs in the community. He enjoyed playing bingo, hunting, fishing and trapping. He flew and owned 2 airplanes, had an amphibious car and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. Willie also enjoyed listening to gospel music and going to church at the Fuller Community Church and the former Harrisville Pilgrim Holiness Church.
He is survived by three children, Darlene Rivers, William H. Marsh and his companion, Katie Crawford, and Paul Marsh and his companion, Carol Dufrene, 7 grandchildren, April, Eddie, Albert, Billy, Matthew, Bryan, and Kaitlyn, and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He is predeceased by a daughter at birth, Marie Marsh, brothers, George, Joseph, Charles, Kenneth, and James Marsh, and sisters, Nora Matejcik, Ethel Miller, Lillian Peron, Pearl Phillips, and Florence "Rena" Cyrus.
