GOUVERNEUR – John L. Benjamin "Johnny B", age 67, of Gouverneur, passed away on October 9, 2023 at home.

His burial will be on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the East Riverside Cemetery. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home in Gouverneur. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.

John was born o June 18, 1956 in Gouverneur to the late George W. and Susie A. (Wood) Benjamin. He graduated from Gouverneur Central School in 1974. He began working as a teenager for Herb McCumber, then worked in the stock room of E.J. Noble Hospital for several years. John also loaded trucks at Mercer's in Natural Dam and worked in maintenance for Hampton's for 14 years. John then drove school bus for Gouverneur Central School District for several years before retiring due to disability.

Johnny played fast pitch softball, collected guitars and other musical instruments, and enjoyed riding motorcycles. He was a genuine, easy-going guy.

He is survived by his brother, William E. Benjamin, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and two siblings, Lyndon M. Benjamin and Katrina Lynn Benjamin.
