STAR LAKE - Patrick "Pat" R. McKenney, age 60, of Star Lake, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2013.

Calling hours will be held at French Family Funeral Home, Star Lake on Saturday, August 24th from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. His memorial service will immediately follow at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Philip Giardino officiating.

Pat was born on August 15, 1953 in Star Lake to the late Clarence E. McKenney and Maurine E. (Fadden) McKenney who survives him. Pat started his education at the one-room schoolhouse in Cranberry Lake and went on to graduate from the Clifton-Fine Central School.

He married Laura R. Reis on May 2, 1981. Pat worked construction, but was best known as a paper maker for the Newton Falls Paper Mill for several years. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, hunting, offering a helping hand to anyone that needed it, and four wheeling. He was also a former member of the Star Lake Fire and Rescue Squad.

His survivors include his mother, Maurine, formerly of Cranberry Lake and now living in Carthage; his wife, Laura of Star Lake; two sons, David Fleming of Lowville, Jim and daughter-in-law, Stephanie Fleming of Elbridge; a daughter, Carrie and son-in-law, Dan Koerick of Gouverneur; and two sisters, Vicki Sellers of Star Lake, Sandy and brother-in-law, Jim Rice of Fine. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Kyle Goldie, Patrick Fleming, Trenton Fleming, Mackensi Koerick, and Moriah Koerick; and nieces and nephews, Jodi (Rice) Szlamczynski, J.J. Rice, Thomas Sellers and Kimberly (Sellers) Rixon.
