EDWARDS- Elida M. Foster, age 95, of Edwards, NY passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at St. Joseph Nursing Home in Ogdensburg. Services for Elida will be private for the family. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Elida was born on July 30, 1920 in Cranberry Lake, NY to the late Earl and Florence (Dafoe) Williams. She graduated from Knox Memorial Central School in Russell in 1938. She married Archie D. Foster on June 21, 1942. Archie passed away on September 21, 1991. The couple had lived in Fine, NY, and then Cary, NC for a while, before moving to Edwards in 1987. Elida was a member of the Edwards United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women's Group and was a former Eastern Star. Surviving are a son, Paul and Carolyn Foster; three daughters, Elaine and Robert Archer, Janice and John Lozo and Sharon and Gary Hamilton; 9 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Elida is predeceased by two brothers, Raymond and Bernard Williams and a sister, Vada Gillette. Donations may be made in Elida's memory to the Edwards Volunteer Rescue Squad or to the Edwards Methodist Church.
