TROUT LAKE – Ruth I. Dusharm, age 74, of Trout Lake passed away on April 13, 2026 with her family at her side.

Ruth was born on January 2, 1952 in Gouverneur to the Dean J. and Doris E. (Clark) Bishop. She graduated from the Edwards Central School in 1969. She married Charlie E. Dusharm on September 8, 1984 in Gouverneur.

Ruth worked as a custodian for the Hermon-DeKalb Central School for 25 years, retiring on August 31, 2014.

She enjoyed camping, fishing, travelling, and was an excellent cook.

She is survived by her husband, Charlie Dusharm, four children, Melvin (Shawna) Dusharm, Debbie (Kevin) Cowger, Andrew (Rochelle) Dusharm, and Jessica (Russell) Stratton, and five siblings, Doreen Bush, Eileen McIntosh, Barton Bishop, Alton Bishop, and Stanley Harris. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth is predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Bishop, and a grandson, Dean Myron Stratton.
