EDWARDS – Gloria L. Youngs, age 84, of Edwards, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at her home under the loving care of her family and St. Lawrence Valley Hospice.

Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home in Gouverneur on Tuesday, March3, 2026 from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 4th at 1:00 p.m. at the Gouverneur United Methodist Church. Gloria was born on July 1, 1941 in Gouverneur to the late Clair W. and Ruth E. (House) Reynolds. She graduated from Gouverneur Central School. Gloria married Algie "Roy" Youngs, Jr. on August 31, 1963 at the Gouverneur Methodist Church with Rev. Stanley Brown officiating. Roy passed away on July 21, 2013.

After raising her children, Gloria worked as a private caregiver and then for Cerebral Palsy until her heart surgery in 2014. Her favorite times were with her family, especially the grandkids, as well as camping, crafting, walking and dancing. Gloria was very involved in her community. She was active in the Senior Citizens Groups of Gouverneur, Hermon-DeKalb, and Canton, was a member of the Edwards Methodist Church, was a member of the Natural Dam Birthday Club for 56 years (in 2021) and has been a member of the Gouverneur Unit of American Legion Auxiliary for 65 years (in 2026) where she served as President for many years. On the County Level of the Legion Auxiliary, she served as President for several terms and held every office except Treasurer. At the District Level she served as the Vice-President and President, was the Spring Conference Chairman for many years, and served on several committees. On the NYS Level the served on many committees, including the National Security Committee, Empire Girl State House Mother and Secretary and as the State Chaplain.

Her survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Kevin McGill and Tina and Doug Brown, a brother, Joel and Norma Reynolds, 4 grandchildren, Katie and Bill Whitney, Sara and James Russell, Seth and Courtney Brown, and Austin and Heidi Brown, and 9 great-grandchildren, Hunter Antwine, Noah Antwine, Amelia, Mason and Xavier Brown, Jax Ashley and Owen, Daisey and Ashland Russell; 2 great-great granddaughters, Alysandra and Elizabeth. She is also "Aunt Go-Go" to about 300 nieces and nephews.

Gloria is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Roy Youngs, and siblings, Adelbert Reynolds, John Reynolds, Charles Reynolds, Carolyn Hubbard, Kenneth Reynolds, Clarine Kerr, and Nora Jean Aldridge.
