Lisa Marie Hadfield Obituary

GOUVERNEUR- Lisa Marie Hadfield, age 57, of Gouverneur passed away peacefully on February 19th, 2026 at home surrounded by her loving family and under the care of hospice.

Lisa was born on August 22, 1968 in Gouverneur, NY to Phyllis Patton and Robert Cardinell. Lisa attended many schools during her elementary through high school education, but freshman year she came home to Gouverneur. Two years later, on February 28, 1987, she married her love, Edwin "Ed" Hadfield Jr.

During Junior and senior year Lisa attended the cosmetology program at St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES. She graduated in June of 1987, leaving school with her cosmetologist license. That October, Lisa started work as a hairdresser at Reflections of You salon in Gouverneur, where she built a good clientele. During this time Lisa started also providing her services at the Kinney's nursing home. Eventually, Lisa felt called to work full time at the nursing home and went on to provide haircuts and styles to the elderly folks whom resided there for 15 years. After her days of work at the nursing home, she found herself back in the cosmetology room at BOCES where she served as an assistant teacher in the cosmetology program.

She eventually felt called back to the elderly community, and left BOCESs in 2006, taking a position in the salon at Pine Grove Apartments where she worked until she retired in 2015.

Lisa enjoyed many activities throughout her life. She loved to do a variety of outdoors activities with her family, such as snowmobiling, jet skiing, and bullhead fishing. For five years you could have even found her in the woods hunting when Ed lost his hunting license. In the winter months she often would sit by the wood fire and do puzzles. She loved to shop, although not many people could handle going with her, as she was notorious for spending hours in one store to not come out with a single thing. She treated going to yard sales as a sport and you had better be up by 5 a.m. if you had planned on going with her. But above all, she loved being Nana the most. Adventures with her five grandsons were her favorite. Over the years she enjoyed taking them to parades, the beach, Water Safari, the zoo, along with several other places. They were her happy place and they knew they could get just about anything they wanted out of Nana.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Ed, her daughter and son-in-law, Kylea and Thomas Plantz, and a son and daughter-in-law, Kurtis and Kailee Hadfield. Her 5 grandsons, Treyton and Trevor Plantz and Laiken, Colt, and Maverick Hadfield. Her brother, Robert "Bobby" Cardinell Jr. and his wife, Megan. Many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as three half siblings, Brandy McIntyre, Casey LaStella, and Gary Cardinell. And her father, Robert Cardinell.

She is predeceased by her mother, Phyllis Patton, her nephew, Brandon Cardinell, and her grandparents, Loretta and James Patton and Myrtle and Francis Cardinell.

No funeral services will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 28th, 2026 at 1 o'clock pm until 4 o'clock pm. at the Casablanca restaurant in Gouverneur. Arrangements are entrusted to French Funeral Home, Gouverneur. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
