EDWARDS – Barbara F. Brown, age 94, formerly of Edwards, passed away on October 20, 2025 under private care.

There will be a graveside service held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. in the Beech Plains Cemetery in Pierrepont. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home in Edwards. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.

Barbara was born on July 12, 1931 in Pierrepont, NY to the late Roy Adelbert and Hazel (McEwen) Fulton of Pierrepont. She married Richard D. Brown of Edwards on June 30, 1954 at the Beech Plains Church. Dick passed away on March 9, 2016.

Barbara graduated from Knox Memorial Central School in Russell, NY in 1948 and from Potsdam State Teachers College in 1952 with a degree in Elementary Education. She earned a Master's degree from Potsdam in 1969 with reading specialization. Mrs. Brown was a teacher for 25 years in the Gouverneur and Edwards School Systems and did substituting in retirement.

She was a member of the Beech Plains Presbyterian Church and helped with Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She had been a 4-H Leader, member of the Home Bureau, Edwards Historical Society, past member of the Eastern Stars, Grange, and NYS Retired Teachers Association.

Dick and Barbara were charter members of the Skirts and Flirts square dance club for 18 years. Barbara later opened the "Busy Bee" craft shop in their home and continued craft shows until 2010. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, crosswords, and time with her friends.

Barbara is survived by her children, Gregory Brown of Edwards, Douglas (Tina) Brown of Edwards, and Lisa Harriman of Edwards, siblings, Vivian Trerise of Canton, Nancy Tuttle of Canton, and Richard (Patricia) Fulton of Camillus, grandchildren, Seth (Courtney) Brown and Austin (Heidi) Brown, great-grandchildren, Amelia, Mason, Jax, and Xavier, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Barbara is predeceased by a sister Shirley (Lyle) Hale and brother-in-law, Clark Trerise.
