GOUVERNEUR- Margaret A. Watson, age 86, of Gouverneur, NY passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.

There will be a celebration of life for Margaret on Saturday, September 27, 2025 starting at 1:00 p.m. at the Mercy Point Church in Gouverneur. Arrangements are entrusted to French Funeral Home, Gouverneur. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.

Margaret was born on September 17, 1938 in Wellsboro, PA to the late Charles and Elsie (White) Shablom. She graduated from Bradford High School in 1959 and then went on to graduated from John A. Davis Bible School in Johnson City, NY in 1962.

On June 5, 1965, she married Wilbert Ora Watson at the Monterey Baptist Church. Wilbert passed away on February 27, 2013. Margaret worked as a dietician in the kitchen of Corning Hospital and then she was a house cleaner for many years. In her free time, she was often sewing and had made all of her own dresses. She enjoyed playing cards and loved sitting outside on her swing just watching the traffic go by. She loved cats, and really enjoyed going out to yard sales.

Surviving are her three children, Faith and John Vann, Stephen and April Watson and Andrew and Jada Watson; four foster brothers, Phillip and Beverly Pitcher, James and Sally Pitcher, Stephen and Dawn Pitcher and Paul and Jetha Pitcher; four grandchildren, Joy and Cody Bishop, John Vann Jr., Kaitlin and William Taylor and Ashley Watson; three step grandchildren, Heather Parody, Steven Parody and Jasmin and David Minor and four great grandchildren, Vann Bishop, Adalena Bishop, Trinity Taylor and Victoria Taylor and eight step great grandchildren.

Margaret is predeceased by her husband, Wilbert; her parents; two brothers, Melford Shablom and Maynard Shablom; two sisters, Mary Shablom and Ruth Jessmore; a foster brother, David Pitcher; a grandson, Stephen Watson and a great grandson, Wilbert Taylor.
