GOUVERNEUR- John E. Dancause, age 77, of Gouverneur, NY, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025 in Altamonte Springs, FL.

There will be a graveside service for John on Saturday, July 19th at 10:00 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery on Williams Street in Gouverneur. There will be a celebration of his life to follow. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.

John was born on June 4, 1948 in Gouverneur, NY to the late John S. and Alberta M. (Belmore) Dancause. He graduated from Gouverneur Central School in 1966 and then started his long work history as a talented certified welder. He ventured to various places and worked in California, Washington State and Florida while frequently coming back home to Gouverneur and working at CIVES Steel, J&L Steel in Star Lake and at the Clearview Restaurant in Gouverneur. John enjoyed fishing, spending his summers on Sylvia Lake, and just being social with his friends.

Surviving is a niece, Michelle Richardson and a great nephew, Okan Batmaca. John is predeceased by his parents, Alberta and John S. "Jack Dancause; a brother, Dean Dancause and a sister, Donna Richardson.

Donations may be made in John's memory to the Gouverneur Neighborhood Center.
