My deepest condolences to Jane, Jon, and Brian and your families. The news of Carl's passing was such a deeply sad shock.
I cannot yet imagine the geese and ducks heading south this fall without Carl's acknowledgement of this seasonal event nor his absence next spring as life returns to the wetlands, which he worked so hard to protect.
Those of us who worked with Carl will always remember his dedication to education about the value and beauty of wetlands; his thoughtfulness and generosity; his humility, persistence, and the wonderful sparkle in his eyes, especially when telling a story.
The world has lost such a kind and committed person as well as your dear lifelong partner, Jane, and a wonderful father and grandfather, Jon and Brian.
My thoughts are with you all.
