GOUVERNEUR – Alice C. Drake, age 81, of Gouverneur, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown.

Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home in Gouverneur on Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. followed by her funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be held privately in New Brookside Cemetery in Waddington. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.

Alice was born on July 6, 1943 in Waddington to the late Phileman Bush and Gertrude (Hitsman) Bush Bishop. She graduated from Gouverneur Central School in 1961 and married David A. Drake on August 24, 1963. David passed away on March 14, 2023.

Alice had worked as a CNA in Letchworth Village and as a Bus Monitor for Gouverneur Central School. She loved to have coffee with friends, having a Diet Coke, and to travel. Alice was a loving, caring, and great Mom who could be stubborn at times. She enjoyed going to see her family and their various events, was a member of the Waddington Senior Citizens Group, a former member of the St. Lawrence Valley Draft Horse Club, and was a former Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader.

Alice is survived by her children, Marcia and her husband, Mason Wedlock, and Matthew and his wife, Wendy Drake, 8 grandchildren, Heather, Elizabeth, Jordan, Alexander and his wife, Kaitlyn, Megan and her husband, Jacob, Malory, Andrew, and Ayden, and five great-grandchildren, Adelina, Zander, Grieson, Mya, and Everson. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Helen Phillips of Waddington and Judy Bush of Gouverneur, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, David Drake, a son, Mark D. Drake, and her brother, Donald Bush.
