SOUTH EDWARDS – Adelyn "Addie" Mae Wayering, age 9, passed away on Sunday evening, June 29, 2025 at home under the care of her loving family and hospice.



Adelyn was born on October 21, 2015 in Potsdam to Donald C. Wayering and Rachel R. Newvine. She is survived by her parents, a half-sister, Emma Payment, and grandparents: Donald R. Wayering, Jr. his partner Shirley Sullivan, and Vicki Newvine. She is predeceased by a grandmother, MaryJean Hunter-Wayering, and a grandfather, John Newvine.



Addie was a very brave young girl with an infectious laugh. Her favorite colors were pink and purple and she loved unicorns. She attended Edwards Knox Central School until her health failed. Addie suffered from Metachromatic Leukodystrophy, a rare genetic disorder which she fought valiantly until the very end.



She was buried privately in the South Edwards Cemetery. Arrangements were with French Funeral Home in Edwards. Sunday, July 13th there will be a small service held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. honoring Adelyn at the Stepping Stone Church, 165 Smith Rd, Gouverneur. Following the service there will be calling hours available for those wishing to offer their condolences.
