GOUVERNEUR – Richard "Rick" R. Welch, age 76, of Gouverneur, passed away at home on June 3, 2025 under the care of his family and hospice.

Rick was born on November 24, 1948 in Portland, Maine to the late Raymond and Mable (Burns) Welch. He attended the Norwich Free Academy in Norwich, Connecticut. Rick married Nancy M. Caron on February 8, 1977 in Norwich.

Rick worked as a laborer for many companies across several states. He retired from the Town of Gouverneur in 2003, having worked there for 12 years. Rick loved collecting old cameras, doing work with his tractor, mowing fields, cutting wood, and working outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy, his 10 children, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents and all of his siblings.
