Obituary of Virginia L. Shaw

ANTWERP – Virginia "Ginny" L. Shaw, age 82, of Antwerp died on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Hospice of Jefferson County. Mrs. Shaw was a homemaker. She enjoyed needlepoint, bird watching, reading, puzzles, and solitaire. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Antwerp for sixty-plus years and a member of the Earnest Rebakah Lodge. Born on February 23, 1943 in Cortland, NY, she was the daughter of the late Clesson and Ruth (Secord) Bush. She graduated from Indian River Central School District in 1960. Ginny married the late Robert C. Shaw on September 23, 1961, at the First Congregational Church of Antwerp officiated by Rev. Edgar O. Spawn. Robert passed away on January 14, 2003. Surviving are four sons, Lawrence of Spragueville, Gerald and his fiancé, Cindy Brotherton of Antwerp, Joseph and his wife, Anna of Maple Hill, NC, and Michael of Tucker, GA, a brother, Clesson "Doug" Bush of Henderson, NV, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Robert, a sister, Rita Gowan, and an infant daughter, Barbara Jean. Calling hours will be held at the First Congregational Church of Antwerp on Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. followed by her funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be in Oxbow Cemetery.
