Obituary of Arnold D. Conklin

EDWARDS- Arnold D. Conklin, age 92, of Edwards, NY passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at Gouverneur Hospital. In keeping with Arnolds wishes, there will be no funeral services. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home in Edwards. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Arnold was born on April 3, 1932 in Gouverneur, NY to the late Martin and Helen (Cunningham) Conklin. He entered into the United States Army in 1949 and served until his honorable discharge in 1952. On June 26, 1954, he married Donna L. Shove in Rossie. Donna passed away on June 24, 2024. The couple owned and operated Arn-Don Farms in Black River for many years. Arnold also owned and operated a tractor trailer business, drove school bus for a short time for Edwards Knox Central School, before working for the DEC at Trout Lake until retiring at the age of 72. Arnold had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cutting wood, riding around doing projects on his tractor, playing cards and listening to country music. He is survived by two children, Tina (Kevin) Weidner and June Johnson; a sister, Mary Hyde; seven grandchildren, Bobbie Trudeau, Billie Jean Brown, Jayme Montressor, Jody Rowsam, Jennie Garza, Kyle Weidner and Craig Weidner, and 17 great grandchildren. Arnold is predeceased by his wife; his parents; a granddaughter, Brandie Rowsam; two brothers, Robert Manson and John Manson and three sisters, Ardis Reynolds, Hazel Seery and Yvonne Matice.
