Obituary of Gary M. McCormick Sr.

RUSSELL – Gary M. McCormick Sr., age 75, of Russell, passed away at home on March 19, 2025. Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home in Edwards on Friday, March 21, 2025 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. His funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by burial in South Russell Cemetery. Gary was born on June 19, 1949 in Gouverneur to the late George Vincent McCormick Sr. and Gladys Rennis (Vaughan) McCormick. He attended the Knox Memorial High School and worked as a mechanic for Shade Roller before opening McCormick's Auto in Morristown that he operated for many years. Gary was a classic car enthusiast who loved his 1955 Mercury Montclair "Sweet Ride" and a previous 1956 Mercury. He used to race cars, ride snowmobile, play shuffleboard, hunt, and enjoyed attending classic car shows. He was a member of the BoonDockers Snowmobile Club. Gary is survived by his partner, Vickie Collett, 5 children, Michele (Jason) Donnelly, Amy (Kim) Kimbrel, Gary (Robyn) McCormick Jr., Andrew (Rebecca) McCormick, and Shauna (Spencer) Kirby, and siblings, Frank (Keitha) McCormick and Janet Sweeney. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Levi, Craig, Kurt, Peyton, Karissa, Skylar, Madison, Hailey, Kylar, Kaysn, and Kohyn, a great-granddaughter, Emilia, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by siblings, Shirley McCormick, Frederick McCormick, Vaughn Meilleur, Robert McCormick, and George McCormick. Donations in memory of Gary may be made to the Richard E.
