GOUVERNEUR- Janet M. Watson, age 72, of Gouverneur, NY passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Gouverneur Hospital.

There will be a celebration of life for Janet on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Gouverneur Elks Lodge. Arrangements are entrusted to French Funeral Home, Gouverneur. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.

Janet was born on October 23, 1952 in Gouverneur to the late Harold and Eva (McBroom) Bennett. She attended school in Edwards and Gouverneur. On February 23, 1969 she married Melburn Watson at the Gouverneur United Methodist Church.

Janet worked various jobs over the years such as working at the cattle sell barn, school bus monitor, a cook at the Circle Inn Diner and Jumbo's Diner, but most recently she did private home health care. She had a love for horses and she enjoyed cooking, cleaning, crocheting, fishing and camping, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Surviving is her husband, Melburn; a daughter, Sandra Martin; two sons, Melvin and Gidget Watson and Michael Watson; two brothers, Tim and Sunday Bennett and Earl "Tom" and Brenda Bennett; a sister, Sharon and Lee Gates and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Janet is predeceased by her parents and a half- brother, Dick Smith.
