GOUVERNEUR – Robin K. Yager, age 78, of Gouverneur, passed away on February 24, 2025 at Gouverneur Hospital.

Robin was born on September 23, 1946 in Syracuse to the late Charles and Virginia (Ellis) Brown. She graduated from Cincinnatus High School in 1964, attended Auburn College, and received her Bachelor degree in Education from Cortland State College. She then earned her Master's degree in Special Education.

Robin married Stephen J. Yager on July 3, 1971. Mr. Yager passed away on April 10, 1999. Robin taught for 33 years, having worked for the Cincinnatus, Friendship, Gouverneur and McGraw, School Districts.

She enjoyed playing cards, especially Gin-13, and was a member of a rug hooking club and the Gouverneur United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Jill (Scott) Matice and Sandra (Jamie) McDougall, sisters, Barbara (John) Maroney and Holly Lagrotteria, a sister-in-law, Virginia Brown, a brother-in-law, Kevin (Virginia) Yager, 8 grandchildren, Kylie (Matt), Brendan, Emma, Alexandra, Reid, Olivia, Devin (Kelsey), and Jasmine (Anthony), and 4 great-grandchildren, Grace, Wesley, Ryder, and Thomas.

Robin is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Stephen, and brothers, John and Kevin Brown.

Robin will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Taylor Cemetery, Taylor NY in the spring. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home in Gouverneur. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
