STAR LAKE – Thomas G. Caufield, age 85, formerly of Star Lake, NY, passed away on September 15, 2024 in Sequim, WA. Tom was born in Ogdensburg, NY on May 18, 1939, son of Robert J. and Helen Evans Caufield. In 1972 Tom married Beatrice Mennicke in Berlin, Germany.

Tom was educated in the Clifton-Fine School District, graduated in 1957 at Clifton-Fine Central School in Star Lake, NY.

Tom entered the U.S. Air Force in 1958, graduating in 1959 from the Language Institute in Monterey, CA. Tom was a career member of the U.S. Air Force. Military Assignments to Germany, Thailand, Florida, Texas, and Rome, NY followed before retiring in 1983. Following military retirement, Tom and Beatrice lived in Fremont, CA where Tom had a second career as a test engineer with Lockheed Martin.

In 2001 Tom and Beatrice purchased their retirement home in Sequim, WA, on a golf course, a passion of Tom's with a "Hole in One" to brag of! Tom was a social fellow, proud of his Irish heritage and good with the Irish Blarney! He enjoyed life with "the love of life, Beatrice" and everyone's cats and dogs. Family was always first on Tom's list. Always in touch, he set up a family heritage site to keep us all updated. Beatrice passed away in 2019. Close neighbors were a "family" for Tom. Our "Love and Gratitude" to Lola, Debra, Tom and Jan, Arlene, and Diana – Tom's Sequim family.

Tom is predeceased by his wife, Beatrice, parents, Bob and Helen Caufield, sister, Mary Kaye Caufield, brother-in-law, Harold Meek, Sr., a nephew, Harry Meek, and several cousins.

Surviving is a sister, Shirley Meek, nieces, Cherie Brown, Cathy Rice, Mary Helen Gearsbeck, nephews, Bill Meek, Tom Meek, Jim Meek, Stephen Meek, and Dave Meek, and cousins.

There will be a funeral service held at St. Hubert's Catholic Church in Star Lake on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 10:30 am followed by burial with military honors at St. Hubert's Cemetery. After the burial there will be a Celebration of Life at Twin Lakes Hotel. Arrangements are with French Family Funeral Home in Star Lake. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
