GOUVERNEUR- Bonnie L. Prashaw-Barker, age 81, of Gouverneur, NY passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.

There will be calling hours for Bonnie on Monday, February 10, 2025 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, February 11th from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with her funeral service immediately following at 12:00 p.m. at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur. Bonnie was born on April 28, 1943 in Gouverneur, NY to the late Karl D. and Goldie E. (Fuller) Brown. She attended school in Hermon. Bonnie married Robert E. Prashaw, Sr. on July 25, 1959. Robert passed away on February 22, 1995. She married James Barker on August 5, 2000. Jim passed away on April 25, 2023.

Bonnie and her husband Robert owned and operated B&B Rubbish and they had a ceramic shop. She later worked in housekeeping at Kinney Nursing Home and then she became a CNA for United Helpers. After her retirement, Bonnie did home health care for many years. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed getting scratch-off tickets, playing Bingo and going dancing.

Surviving is a daughter, Donna Prashaw and her companion Justin Leeson; four sons, Robert Prashaw, Jeffrey and Jackie Prashaw, Jody Prashaw and Laura Cole and Karl Prashaw and Nicole Rood; three brothers, Delbert, David, and Frank Brown; a sister, Romona Rafter; 22 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by a daughter, Laureen Prashaw; two granddaughters, Milinda E. Shampine and Jessica Prashaw; five brothers, Ronald, Ernest, Weldon, Clifford and Robert Brown and five sisters, Daphne Filiatrault, Thelma McCready, Wanda Jackson, Rosemary Brown and Isabel Lewis.
