GOUVERNEUR – Stella L. Singh, age 80, of Gouverneur, passed away on January 3, 2025 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

There will be calling hours held at the United Church of Richville on Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. followed by her memorial service at 12:00 p.m. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home in Gouverneur. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.

Stella was born on May 30, 1944 in Goffstown, NH. Raised by her grandparents. She attended school in Peterborough, NH and married Frank E. Putnam on June 16, 1962 in Peterborough, NH. Frank passed away in 1972. Stella later married Arjoon "John" Singh on February 14, 1987 in Bennington, NH. John passed away in 2016.

Stella worked as a cleaning person for New England College, was a CNA for Cedars Nursing Home in New Hampshire, and was a waitress at Jumbo's in Gouverneur. She was a strong-willed, and determined woman who raised her family through thick and thin. Her family supported one another, because of her. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren; they were her life. Stella was a lifetime member of the VFW in New Hampshire and enjoyed camping, taking vacations, playing cards, hosting, and watching TV, especially "Everybody Loves Raymond" and gameshows.

She is survived by her children, Wanetah (Roger) Dean, Barbara (Pete) Hitchcock, Angel (Mike) Dalton, Robert Putnam, and Sookraj "K" Singh, a sister, Judith Starkweather, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, Stella is predeceased by three children, Terry Putnam, Susan Putnam, and Elaine Russick, and siblings, Roland Renshaw, James Renshaw, and Elaine Weir.
