EDWARDS – Everett A. Fleming, age 80, of Edwards, passed away October 7, 2016. His wife, Kathleen, passed away 25 hours earlier on October 6, 2016. There will be a memorial service for Everett and Kathy at the New Beginnings Assembly of God in South Edwards on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Michael Neary. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home, Edwards. Everett was born on January 9, 1936 in Rosie to the late Guy and Irene (Dunn) Fleming. He attended the local Rossie School House and Gouverneur Central School. He served in the United States Army from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1962. He had received the Good Conduct Medal and his Parachute Badge. Everett also was an exempt member of the Edwards Volunteer Fire Department. He married Kathleen D. Wilson on August 22, 1959 in Rossie, NY with Pastor Myron E. Van Ornum officiating. Everett worked as an underground minor for St. Joe Mineral Corp. before working for Gouverneur Talc where he retired as a security guard. He enjoyed his morning coffee with the guys, fishing, watching the birds, "puttering" around the house, mowing the lawn and fixing things around the house. Everett was his daughter's best friend and he would always make a sacrifice for others without thinking of himself. His survivors include his son, Dean Fleming; his daughter, Teresa Fleming; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Edwin and Guy; and a sister, Emma. Donations in Everett's memory can be made to the Potsdam Humane Society, 17 Madrid Ave., Potsdam, NY 13676. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
