EDWARDS – Frank E. Wagner, Sr., age 94, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2016 at the United Helpers Maplewood Campus. Calling hours will be at French Funeral Home, Edwards on Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. His funeral mass will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Edwards on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. followed by a reception at the Community Center of Sacred Heart. Burial in the Hermon Cemetery will be held at a later date. Frank was born on April 25, 1922 in Alba, MI to the late Earl Frank and Georgia Coon (Shepherd) Wagner. He graduated from the Onondaga Central School (Nedrow) in 1939 in a class of 6 people. Frank married Katherine A. Young on September 17, 1941 in the Madrid Methodist Church. He worked as a union carpenter and in the construction business for over 40 years in the Syracuse area. Frank started work with Alcoa, moved to Syracuse and worked for Remington Arms to make pistols for the war. He had placed the first forms for the General Electric Complex in Syracuse. Frank had also worked as foreman and superintendant for commercial contractors. An intelligent man, Frank helped build many dams, bridges, and very large, complex projects. Upon retirement, Frank worked as a security guard for Pinkerton and Burns in Syracuse until he was in his 80's. Frank was a Boy Scout Master for 20 years of Our Lady ofLourdes Troop #88. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed his vacation home on Trout Lake in Hermon, NY. He had an active life, helping his family and friends. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Edwards and a firm supporter of the Katie and Frank Young reunion held annually at Grandy's. Mr. Wagner is survived by his wife, Katherine; his son, Frank E. Wagner, Jr; daughter, Kathy Ann Harris; 5 grandchildren, Roger Harris, Sharisse Raymond, Theresa Schyer, William Wagner and Wayne Wagner; 8 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents' daughter-in-law, Sheila Wagner and 6 siblings. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
