EDWARDS – James Garvin Pierce, age 88, of Edwards, passed away on April 11, 2016 at the Clifton-Fine Hospital.
Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home, Edwards on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Edwards.
Jimmy was born on November 3, 1927 in Brownville to the late George and Margaret (Roacher) Pierce. He worked as a farm laborer for the Hathaway Farm and Given Family Farms for many, many years. Jimmy loved working on the farm and was an animal lover; he seemed to always have a pet on his lap.
Jimmy enjoyed going to the Gouverneur-St. Lawrence County Fair and opening gifts at Christmas. He has been an inspiration to Joe Creech's life and a privilege to take care of.
His survivors include his good friends, including Joe Creech; his brother, Charles Pierce; and his nephews.
Jimmy is predeceased by brothers, Fred, Carl and Ralph; and sisters, Mamie, Grace and Nellie.
