STAR LAKE – Bruce "Scamper" A. Campbell, age 68, of Star Lake, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at his home under the care of his loving family and hospice of St. Lawrence Valley. Calling hours will be at French Family Funeral Home, Star Lake, on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. His funeral will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor David Downey officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the St. Hubert's Cemetery. Bruce was born on October 17, 1946 in Potsdam to the late Kenneth and Virginia (Smith) Campbell. He grew up in Fine and graduated from the Clifton-Fine Central School. Bruce proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion in Star Lake and was a big supporter of the Renewal House in Canton and the Wounded Warriors. Scamper loved his Harley Davidson Motorcycles, his Corvette, and to help anyone who needed it. Bruce was a person who enjoyed doing good deeds and was a good friend to many. Bruce married Marsha G. Pomerville on February 23, 1979. He worked for the Newton Falls Paper Mill as an inspector in the lab for 31 years until it shut down. He then worked for the NYS DOT out of Cranberry Lake for 13 years. His survivors include his wife, Marsha; his sons, Brendon Pomerville and Robert Campbell; his daughter, Heather Campbell; brothers, Dale and David Campbell; his sisters, Beth Tupper, Diane Dickinson, Brenda Dixon; and his extended family and friends. Bruce's wishes were that in place of flowers, donations to be sent to the St. Lawrence Valley Renewal House, 3 Chapel St, Canton NY 13617 or the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
